The first comprehensive care centers for children and young people's neurodiversity in Spain, promoted by Xtraordinary People, are now operational in Barcelona
Xtraordinary People provides services in Barcelona through its comprehensive care centers for child and youth neurodiversity in Spain. These centers, designed to enhance the capacities of neurodivergent people through a biological, psychological and social approach, are located on Brusi Street -in the district of Sarrià-Sant Gervasi- and in the Clínica del Remei, with a team of 25 professionals in medicine, education and neurodevelopment.
The Xtraordinary People methodology focuses on a bio-psycho-social approach, serving both neurodiverse individuals and their caring environment. This is achieved through an ambitious personalized follow-up program that includes psychology, neuropsychology, speech therapy, physiotherapy, psychomotor skills, occupational therapy, psychopedagogical re-education, neurology, neuropediatrics and psychiatry.
The project, a spin-off of Synaptia Health Projects, stands out for its integration of medical and therapeutic specialties in reference centers such as the Corachán Clinic, the Remei Clinic, the Barcelona Hospital and HLA International. In addition, Xtraordinary People is working in collaboration with prestigious institutions such as the Sant Pau Hospital in Barcelona, the CSIC, the Rey Juan Carlos University and the University of Girona to develop biotechnology projects aimed at people with neurodiversity.
The main objective of Xtraordinary People is to address the lack of resources for the early detection of neurodiversity and to provide specialized and comprehensive care. The majority of patients are children and adolescents, who are provided with personalized treatment that considers their family environment. This is just the beginning of an ambitious project that has received an injection of 3 million euros from the private investment fund XY Booster, with the objective of opening 10 additional centers in Spain and then expanding to Latin America.
In addition, the project includes the development of a mobile application for the diagnosis and monitoring of patients, as well as for facilitating communication between children, families, educational centers and medical teams. This technological tool seeks to improve integration and support for neurodiversity at all stages of life.
Adrián Trejo de la Rosa, CEO and co-founder of Xtraordinary People, highlighted the importance of a comprehensive approach: “This is the first project in Spain that proposes a comprehensive approach to all biopsychosocial aspects of neurodiversity. We work so that boys and girls with some type of neurodivergence can realize their full potential.”
It is estimated that between 15 and 20 percent of the world's population is neurodivergent, with conditions such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia and Tourette syndrome. The creation of these centers and the planned expansion respond to the growing demand for specialized services for this sector of the population, offering a comprehensive and personalized response that covers both medical, educational and social needs.
