Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a mental health condition characterized by the presence of obsessions (intrusive, repetitive, and involuntary thoughts) and compulsions (repetitive behaviors performed to reduce anxiety caused by obsessions).

These symptoms can interfere with a person's daily life, affecting concentration, academic performance and social relationships, creating challenges both at school and at home. A good approach limits effects on adult life, such as isolation and loneliness.

From the Xtraordinary Methodology, in our speech:

We recognize the impact of OCD from a comprehensive perspective, understanding that obsessions and compulsions are manifestations of natural, albeit intensified, mental processes, and we seek to address them with understanding and empathy, improving quality of life.

We consider both the biological and environmental factors that influence the evolution of OCD, working from an individualized approach that respects and accompanies the family and/or social/school/work environment.

We design personalized strategies that include emotional regulation techniques, establishing predictable routines, time management, and creating quiet spaces in the classroom to reduce stress and facilitate learning.

We focus on the strengths of students with OCD, such as their ability to focus on details, their perseverance and their high personal standards, highlighting these positive aspects to reduce the associated stigma.

We offer multidisciplinary services, integrating the latest advances in neuroscience and collaborating with mental health professionals to support both individuals and families in managing OCD.

We take advantage of technology as tools to support learning, through the use of applications that favor the organization and planning of tasks.

We accompany families and caregivers, promoting cooperation between the student's different environments through constant counseling and working together.
